Workload Analysis
In this section we will take a look at many, but not all, of the functionality available with the QCD Workload tables. We will also take a look at the best kept secret in Teradata—the index and partition recommendation tool. After working with the QCD for a while you will likely discover other valuable uses.
Get All Tables Used in a Workload
Would it be helpful to have the ability to extract every database and table name used in a workload? The QCD can do that. The QCD has a handy macro to get these dependent tables. Simply execute the following and provide the workload name:
EXEC QCD.TIWizGetTable('FIN_20160501A');
Suppose, however, that you are not allowed to execute QCD macros in your environment. Out of luck then? Nope, just execute the macro’s underlying select statement in the SQL editor of your choice. It is a longer piece of code so it is included in the appendix.
This is a handy utility to use to determine dependencies.
